Kylian Mbappe said he felt no pressure to score his first La Liga goal after netting twice as Real Madrid beat Real Betis 2-0 on Sunday.
Mbappe netted twice in the second half at the Santiago Bernabeu, assisting the first with a Federico Valverde backheel and the second from the penalty spot, after failing to score in his first three matches. “I have pressure to adapt to the team,” Mbappe told reporters after the game.
“I have been scoring goals all my career and I will score goals, for sure. The goals will come.
“Three games [without scoring] was too much for me, but it’s okay, I have the confidence of my team-mates.”
Mbappe scored for Madrid against Atalanta in the UEFA Super Cup last month, but he has failed to find the net in La Liga against Real Mallorca, Real Valladolid and Las Palmas, with Madrid drawing two of their first three league games. “There’s no
pressure, it’s football,” Mbappe added. “I know I have quality. I came here to show who I am as Kylian. There is no pressure, I am happy and I want to play.” Mbappe had
nine shots on goal against Betis but failed to find the net until his first goal in the 67th minute.
